I went into this book expecting something disturbing. I didn’t expect to fall this hard.

My Thoughts

This is my first Dark Romance book by title. I’ve read books with dark elements years ago, but back then I never really knew which books to pick — so this felt like the start of a new obsession.

Going into this book, I had all the social media reviews in mind: “It is disturbing.” — “Please read the trigger warnings.” And honestly, I thought to myself: Wow, this must be hard stuff. There were moments where I paused and thought, “Oh wow… no. Don’t do that.” And still, I kept reading.

After reading it, I can say that this book has become one of my favorite Dark Romance reads. What surprised me most was how quickly I became addicted. Instead of wanting to put it down, I found myself wanting more — more tension, more darkness, more of these characters.

After finishing it, I knew one thing for sure: this was a Dark Romance book that worked for me. So much so that I immediately bought the second book.

Conclusion

It wasn’t as shocking as I expected — but that might say more about my personal trigger tolerance than about the book itself.

I can’t speak for readers who have real-life experiences related to these topics, which is why I strongly recommend reading the trigger warnings before picking this up.

I will definitely reread this book after some time.
